On June 26th, 2020, IBM released the new Maximo Application Suite (MAS) as the replacement to the legacy Maximo EAM. This “Suite” of applications not only expanded upon the pre-existing legacy Maximo EAM functionality, but MAS introduced new functionality through various new applications, add-ons, industry solutions, connectors, etc. The features of MAS enable the Suite to be used for purposes beyond just standard asset management practices. In MAS, there are new applications built for asset health monitoring, predictive maintenance, remote asset monitoring, and mobile EAM applications. All of the new and expanded functionality is exciting for the Maximo community, but as users are planning the move to MAS, some of the biggest factors holding existing Maximo users back from the upgrade to MAS are the cost and complexity.

Naviam provides a choice of three Naviam Cloud offering tiers to better meet the varying needs of the Maximo community.

Naviam Cloud Starter

Many of the conversations around the high cost associated with moving to MAS initiate with smaller scale Maximo systems. A lot of smaller-scale customers utilize the core functionality of MAS that was present in the legacy Maximo EAM product and may not need or even want all of the new capabilities that are available with MAS. For Maximo users who are smaller-scale and want to keep the cost of Maximo low, Naviam created the Naviam Cloud Starter offering.

This offering includes:

  • One production Manage environment & one part-time non-production Manage environment on shared OpenShift clusters
  • Up to 25 concurrent users
  • SQL Database
  • 99.95% monthly availability
  • System and application patching at Naviam prescribed frequencies (in general patching every 3-6 months and upgrades every 12-18 months)
  • Support for the following Manage add-ons and industry solutions: Oil & Gas, Transportation, HS&E, Service Provider, Maximo Mobile, Calibration, Linear, Life Sciences, & Scheduler
  • Support for HTTPS integration endpoints & 3rd party solutions that connect through HTTPS integration endpoints
  • UTC system-level time zone

As noted above, this offering includes both a production instance and a part-time non-production instance. The part-time non-production instance will have a standard annual uptime of 30% and can be brought online/offline by Naviam for Maximo user testing and R&D. This allows Maximo users to focus on operating their day-to-day business while providing a space for any new changes to be tested before being moved to the production environment. This is a good fit for Maximo users who don’t plan to frequently make changes to their production systems.

All-in-all, the smaller infrastructure footprint is what makes this offering more cost effective. Naviam Cloud Starter is likely the perfect fit for smaller scale Maximo implementations, but in the case of larger and more complex systems, the Naviam Cloud Premier or Naviam Cloud Enterprise offerings are likely a better fit.

Naviam Cloud Premier

Naviam has offered Maximo as a Service since 1999 and has had many different offerings and offering variations. Naviam Cloud Premier is the most similar offering to our previously existing Naviam Cloud offering. This is for Maximo users who would like additional flexibility beyond the Naviam Cloud Starter offering due to having a larger-scale or more complex Maximo system. Most Maximo users will likely find the Naviam Cloud Premier offering to be the best fit for their needs.

The offering includes:

  • One production Manage environment and one non-production Manage environment on shared OpenShift clusters
  • Configured for the requested user load with the option to scale up as needed
  • Support for SQL, DB2 and Oracle database platforms
  • 99.99% annual availability and 99.95% monthly availability
  • Application Suite patching and upgrade schedule flexibility, platform patching at Naviam prescribed frequencies
  • Support for Manage add-ons and industry solutions
  • Support for integrations, 3rd party solutions, and VPN’s

The Naviam Cloud Premier offering provides quite a bit of additional flexibility beyond Naviam Cloud Starter. Some of the most notable differences are: scalable user load, database choice, support for integrations/VPNs, and Application Suite patching/upgrade scheduling. Additionally, Naviam Cloud Premier includes a full-time non-production environment (NPE), as opposed to Naviam Cloud Starter which includes a part-time NPE. The NPE is available full-time for Maximo user testing and R&D.

This option provides flexibility for Maximo users who have needs beyond the Naviam Cloud Starter offering parameters.

Naviam Cloud Enterprise

Naviam has historically been able to provide both large-scale Maximo systems and Maximo systems for regulated markets, and that has not changed with MAS. The Naviam Cloud Enterprise tier is the right fit for customers who are in regulated industries (pharmaceutical, food, medical devices, etc.) as well as large-scale Maximo systems that require more flexibility than what is offered with Naviam Cloud Premier.

This offering includes:

  • One production Manage environment and one non-production environment
  • Everything available with the Naviam Cloud Premier offering in addition to:
    • Dedicated OpenShift clusters
    • Platform and Application Suite patching and upgrade schedule flexibility
    • Ability to provide a GxP-qualified Naviam Cloud that is ready for client validation
    • Ability to provide service in a FedRAMP-authorized datacenter

This offering is the most flexible and customizable to the customer’s Maximo system and user needs. The dedicated OpenShift clusters provided is the most significant differentiator between the Naviam Cloud Enterprise tier and Naviam Cloud Premier offering.

All of Naviam Cloud's service offering tiers include additional features and proprietary solutions beyond what is listed above to enhance the value received and ensure your Naviam Cloud Solution is secured and supported.
